Ongoing R&D Projects
Within our continuous R&D carried out in house as well as in cooperation with other academic as well as business organisations, we are currenltly involved in the following projects:
Precision Trace Carbon Measurement: a tool for process optimization and quality control of high temperature superconductors - transfer of analytical expertise
The project introduces internal trace carbon analysis in superconductors using the combustion elemental analysis method, thereby reducing costs, shortening the production cycle, and improving quality. In collaboration with the University of Chemistry and Technology, Prague, the project will involve the transfer of know-how, equipment installation, and methodology development. The project strengthens the company’s self-sufficiency and responds to the growing global demand for high-temperature superconductors.

High temperature superconducting materials not only for sustainable energy
The project focuses on the development of advanced high-temperature superconducting materials and their deposition processes for energy, industrial and medical applications. The key outputs of the project are new generations of superconducting targets optimised for thin film deposition and the deposition process of superconducting layers using innovative IJD technology. The project also includes material recycling to improve sustainability and efficiency of manufacturing processes and a new generation of REBCO crystals.
The project is supported by the OP TAK programme by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Czech Republic.

Innovating REBCO Precursor Production for Industrial Superconductors
Process innovation - switching from laboratory/batch production of granulate for the production of superconducting tapes to semi-continuous industrial production using larger technological equipment connected into one logical unit. The output will be an innovative production process that will enable an increase from the current capacity of tens of kg of superconducting material/month achievable with existing facilities to the production of hundreds of kg of material to be placed on the emerging superconducting tape market.

Innovative manufacturing of advanced ceramic superconducting crystals by SDMG growth method and 3D printing
in cooperation with NCK MATCA - National Centre of Competence for MATCA (Materials, Advanced Technologies, Coatings and their Applications).
The project aims to use advanced 3D techniques and a novel growth method, Single-Direction Melt Growth (SDMG), to create REBCO bulks with tailored microstructure and superior properties. By combining these methods, the c-axis continuous shape can be theoretically prepared as single-domain REBCO bulk. This unique approach would be the first successful SLM implementation for ceramic material, leveraging REBCO's peritectic behavior and subsequent melt processing.

Recycling high-temperature superconducting materials
Project aimed to transformation of REBCO waste to high-value products or secondary precursors. We are developing a new robust chemical technique based on full dissolution of REBCO materials. Large Bulk (RE)BCO superconducting magnets for desktop NMR/MRI
Joint project of University of Cambridge and University of Oxford. CAN is the project partner/industrial supplier of REBCO bulks. Other project partners are Oxford Instruments and Siemens. Project no. EP/T014679/1 and EP/T01539X/1.
